| A Fort for Planning |
Family and Friends!
HELLO! I realized that as of today I have been in the field for 2 months! I can't believe it, it's gone so fast it's incredible! I LOVE being a missionary!! LOVE LOVE LOVE it and I wouldn't change a thing about being here in Danville. I love these wonderful people!
It was a slow week! On Friday, we had 6 appointments planned with investigators and less-actives. We were excited for a good day, but one-by-one, EVERY SINGLE ONE cancelled or we couldn't get a hold of them! I know Heavenly Father was trying to teach us something, because it was hard on us both! I learned a lot about planning. It's SO important to have good plans. If we show Heavenly Father our faith by making plans, and then making backup plans, and then following through on those plans, He will put those in our path that we truly need to see that day! When things fall though, we can know that we did our best, and that all things are in God's hands.
For weekly planning that night, we made a fort and ate pizza :) It helped us feel better!
Exchanges were this week! I LOVE exchanges, although I was SO nervous for this one! I stayed in our area and Sister Biddle went to Springfield this time. This meant I had to take control of the area, plan all the appointments and represent the companionship...talk about pressure! The STL I was with, Sister Martinez, was SO nice and taught me so much!! The first thing she taught me was to CALM DOWN! :) "Sister Petrie...just take a breath." "Ok Sister Martinez." She is incredible, and I love her! We picked up a new investigator together, A! She taught me a lot about just loving the people and loving the spirit into the lesson! I kept wanting to hurry up and teach the restoration, but she taught me that it's more important to bring the spirit than to teach the lesson. "Baby steps, Sister Petrie, baby steps." I love her!!
Quote of the week, also from Sister Martinez! "Anything is impossible, until it is necessary." I love that! It gives me faith that I can do anything the Lord wants me to. Like Nephi says, "...he shall prepare a way!"
Here are some answers to your questions!
First, we are working on member missionary work. I need all y'alls help on this one! Anyone who has a family mission plan that has been working for them, could you send me it? I am looking for simple examples that we can show to these wonderful members, to get them excited about the work! Members do SO MUCH. They don't realize how needed they are!! We are here to help them realize it.
Primary and youth programs are both very small here! But they are incredible!
The nearest sisters to us are in Rantoul, IL. Which is quite a ways! And it's a bummer because WE LOVE THOSE SISTERS. But hey, good news!! Our ward and district areas are changing! We are going to lose a set of missionaries that serve in Indiana, and they are giving that area to us sisters as well as our own area! This starts next transfer. I'm so excited that I get to serve in Indiana! (that area is in eastern time!! I'll be in your time zone! haha) We are adding Rantoul sisters to our district, so we'll have 1 set of elders and 2 sets of sisters in the district, yay!! (They call that a Sistrict hahaha)
Short showers...let's just say it's a work in progress! I do like my showers! Good thing the missionary schedule forces me to cut them down by a bit :)
I LOVE YOU ALL. Just love someone this week! They probably need it!
